Tindal Wine Merchant's 2020 Portfolio Tasting at The Marker Hotel

*TRADE & PRESS ONLY*

A new decade signals some exciting progress at Tindal Wine Merchants. We have a handful of new producers, showing their wines, with even more indigenous varieties, terroir driven practises and more importantly sustainable long-term goals.

We're putting the finishing touches to our workshops, details of these will be released with the official invitation. Booking is necessary and places always fill up fast, so keep a beady eye out for the information.

There will be 120 wines to taste with over 30 producers from around the globe, this is the perfect opportunity to find a new favourite wine and learn more about the styles from around the world, whilst expanding your tasting experience.

MASTERCLASSES

*Please note that registering for the masterclass does not guarantee a place. We will confirm your place in the masterclass the Friday before the event. As ever, we will try our best to facilitate everyone in these sessions.*

11.45 (1 hour)

Stephane Ogier - 'The distinction of the lieux-dit within Côte- Rôtie'

Esteemed Northern Rhone producer, Stephane Ogier will be explaining the direct effects that the aspects of each lieux-dit has on his single vineyard styles. This promises to be a fascinating insight into the influence of terroir in the glass.

2pm (1 hour)

Tignanello - A vertical of vintages with Estate Director Stefano Carpaneto

Stefano will be taking us through six vintages of Tignanello. Vintages to be shown are 1997, 1999, 2005, 2009, 2015 and 2016. What else can you say!

3.30pm (1 hour)

Rudolf Trossen - '40 years of biodynamic viticulture in the Mosel'

Biodynamics is not a new way of working the vines, but many producers are new to the game. Rudolf Trossen has been practising biodynamics on his small estate in Kinheim for over 40 years. His overwhelming understanding of the balance between nature and soil is fascinating. Rudolf's presentation manner is enveloping, his story telling pulls you in.

We are lucky to have Rudolf here for this tasting, the carbon footprint of flying goes directly against what he stands for. Rudolf and his wife Rita enjoyed an extended honeymoon here in 1978, travelling around Donegal in their VW campervan. For Rudolf "To come to Ireland is something like “coming home”. I am deeply related to the Atmosphere and the light."

WORKSHOPS (short informative discussions with no tasting)

11am (30 minutes) - Yeast and bringing the vineyard into the glass.

Harriet Tindal MW and Simon Tyrrell will be looking at the activities of yeast, wild and cultured and the effect their activities have on the resultant wine.

Please note this is a 30 minute educational workshop with no tasting.

1pm (30 minutes) - Trading up - Why we should all be drinking better wine.

How sustainable are our drinking habits? Where does the price we pay leave the producer? Harriet and a panel of producers will be discussing the effect price has on all parts of the chain; from vineyard to glass.

Please note this is a TRADE ONLY event. There is a consumer event in the evening and tickets to this may be purchased here.
